DISABILITY DUE TO COVID-19
In case you missed it, a few days ago, the Mexican Social Security Institute announced through the press conference on the COVID-19 in Mexico, which will be granting the right-holders 14 days’ disability for symptoms of COVID-19.
The Director of Economic and Social Benefits of the IMSS, Mauricio Hernández Ávila, informed that as a preventive measure, those entitled to benefits who have symptoms will be able to enter the IMSS Digital application and answer a questionnaire, by means of which the institute will be able to determine whether or not it is a coronavirus carrier, once it turns out to be positive, it will be granted disability for 14 days and will be sent to your home a kit consisting of coverlets, alcohol gel, antiseptic and thermometer, for the purpose of keeping him safe at home and not infecting his family members.
It was also explained that the 14-day disability that the institute will give will be considered as general sick leave, so that the allowance granted by the institute to eligible persons will be for 11 days at 60 per cent of their salary, However, in the case of health personnel contracting the virus, the disability will be considered as a work risk and will be paid 100 per cent on 14 days’ salary.
