Imports of sheet steel plate.

The Ministry of Economy issued in the Official Journal of the Federation, the decision declaring the initiation of administrative proceedings for the examination of the validity of the countervailing duties imposed on imports of sheet steel plates originating in the Russian Federation and Ukraine, irrespective of the country of provenance.

The publication states that Altos Hornos de México, S.A.B. de C.V., expressed its interest in initiating the examination of the validity of the definitive countervailing duties imposed on imports of sheet steel plate originating in Romania, Russia and Ukraine.

The product under examination is the non-alloy and alloyed carbon sheet steel plate with a boron content of 0.0008% or more, a rectangular steel product supplied under rolling conditions with or without mill edge, with a thickness of up to 4.5 inches, width up to 120 inches, length up to 480 inches and unit weight up to 6,250 kilograms. In the market it is known as plate or sheet steel cut in sheet and, in English, as “plate”, “medium plate”, “heavy plate”, “hot rolled carbon steel plate” or “cut-to-length steel plate”.

This product enters the national market through the tariff fractions 208.51.01, 7208.51.02, 7208.51.03, 7208.52.01, 7225.40.01 and 7225.40.02 of the Tariff of the Law on General Import and Export Taxes.

The review period shall run from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020 and the review period shall run from 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2020.

The above-mentioned resolution provides an opportunity for those natural or legal persons with a legal interest in the outcome of this examination procedure, they declare it within 28 working days from the day following the publication of that decision in the Official Journal.
